Software tool with integrated
geo-localisation feature for the
listing and search of products
that are not suitable for shipping
for the French site of eBay.

Some items are not suitable for shipping - some cannot be transported at all. In order to support the sale of these types of products, the client requested the submission of tenders for an application, which would take into account these special characteristics of items directly during the listing and the search process.
During the listing process, the seller can add more information with little effort: the exact location data for geo-localisation, parking conditions, or the number of helpers needed for moving large-size, unwieldy items. The buyer, on the other hand, will receive all hits for the desired item in the specified location range on a map visualisation, based on GoogleMaps.

Technology

The application is based on a LAMP-based backend on both the seller and buyer side. An extensive Javascript library controls the AJAX seller interface. Connecting the GoogleMaps API to a third party provider will ensure address validation during geo-localisation. On the seller side, information from the central database of the online auction provider is linked with the geo-coding. Distance information can be broken down as far as to individual streets.
